Motor Expedition Northeast India - In search of forgotten tribes
This adventurous motorcycle journey through Northeast India takes you to one of the last truly unspoiled regions of India. Through a narrow corridor only 30 kilometers wide, this mysterious area is connected to the rest of the country. As soon as you pass this passage, it feels like you are driving into a completely new world - a world where time seems to stand still.
When we see the hustle and bustle of Guwahati behind us, the roads soon turn into winding mountain roads and dusty jungle tracks. This is where the real adventure begins. Remote villages, hidden temples and daily life barely affected by the outside world - this is the India that few travelers ever see.
During this expedition we will drive through the states of Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya. Each region has its own peoples, traditions and spectacular landscapes. In Nagaland we visit traditional Naga villages where colorful tribes still live according to ancient rituals. We drive through mountainous areas close to the borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh, where the smell of wood fires and incense is everywhere in the air.
Along the way, we take a safari in Kaziranga National Park, one of India's most famous wildlife parks. Here we go by jeep in search of rare Indian rhinoceros and other wildlife, in the middle of a landscape where the jungle still rules.
Accommodations range from cozy guesthouses to simple homestays deep in the mountains. In the evenings, we share stories around the fire and get to know the hospitality of the locals.
This is no ordinary trip. It's a rugged motorcycle expedition for travelers who want to explore the unknown - where it's not just the destination that counts, but more importantly the road to it.
