Japan ultramodern cities and centuries-old tradition

Actually, Japan is a motorcycle country par excellence.

It consists mostly of mountainous terrain with beautiful mountain roads and also possesses a fascinating modern but very traditional culture.

We begin the trip in Osaka.

We cross by boat to Shikuku Island and arrive via Hiroshima on the beautiful north coast of Honshu Island.

After visiting beautiful Kyoto, the "Japanese Alps" begin. Of course, a visit to the metropolis of Tokyo is not missing.

We stay overnight in guesthouses in small villages interspersed with nice hotels in busy cities.

This trip will introduce you to both ultra-modern cities and traditional historical villages and customs on your motorcycle.

Japan is a fascinating country in every way and fantastic to explore by motorcycle.

Visa

You will need a visa for this motorcycle trip. You can arrange this on the spot upon arrival. Please make sure that your passport is still valid for at least 6 months upon your return.

Driving License

For this motorcycle trip, you will need an international driver's license which you will need in your home country
pre-arranges with the ANWB.

Follow car

For our motorcycle tours, a support car/mechanic goes with you. You can put your luggage in the follow car. Always make sure you have your gear with you for the day.

Heaviness of the journey

This is one of the least strenuous trips within the "adventure and culture" section. We drive only on asphalt roads. And even though Honshu Island is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, the narrow roads through the mountains are virtually deserted. Unlike the roads around Tokyo Hirshima and Osaka where it is very busy.

Overnight

You stay mostly in reasonable mid-range hotels. But it is especially nice in Japan to stay in local traditional guesthouses. These are certainly not less good than regular hotels but very special to stay in. We also stay a few nights in so-called Japanese Motor guesthouses where you can meet fellow motorcyclists in a Japanese way.

Clothing

Required are a helmet motorcycle jacket with protection gloves a good sturdy motorcycle pants with protection and sturdy high (mountain) shoes. Because of
the chance of rain, it is helpful if you bring a waterproof motorcycle jacket and extra warm long-sleeved shirts that you can wear on top of each other on colder days. Rain pants or waterproof motorcycle pants are also recommended.

Climate

During the warm summer months, it rains the most. This means a hot oppressive climate. We chose September because it can get very cold again in the winter months. In September there is still a small chance of rain but the temperature is still pleasant.
