The many secondary roads with the familiar low walls along the way gives a special feeling.

Vast landscapes and deserted roads that lead you to countless beautiful lakes and views.

The overwhelming coastlines of Scotland with its majestic rock walls on which the sea pounds hard.

In short, an unforgettable motorcycle trip through the extraordinary natural parks of northern England and the rugged Highland of Scotland.

R2D tries everything, as best as possible, to keep the trip on track, however, there may be situations where flexibility is expected from participants. There may be engine trouble or the planned route is temporarily not possible due to works.

Single room from € 550,-

Day 1 Departure - Rotterdam (ferry)

Meeting point is the port of Rotterdam. You will make sure to be there by late afternoon to check in together for the overnight ferry to Hull England.

The ferry has several bars, restaurants and entertainment on board so you won't be bored.

Day 2 Hull (England) - Dumfries (Scotland)

Arrival in Hull in the morning.

Then we immediately set out for Dumfries. We are immediately overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Lake District National Park, with its rural roads and vast plains. We spend the night in the town of Dumfries, the main town of the county of Dumfriesshire in Scotland.

Day 3 Dumfries - Loch Lomond

From Dumfries we will drive west first to go through Galloway Forest Park towards Glasgow and then through Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Along the way we will visit a whiskey distillery, where unfortunately we can only look and buy of course to drink later. We spend the night in Balmaha, a friendly tourist town right on the lake where stories still circulate about the Lochness monster.

Day 4 Loch Lomond - Uig

Continuing along the west side of Loch Lomond, we will drive through an impressive landscape of vast plains and lakes. Along the way, we will turn briefly to drive the road where the famous scene from James Bond "Skyfall" was shot. We will take a short detour along Loch Leven Lake, then drive through Fort Williams to Sky Island where we will spend the night in the picturesque town of Uig.

Day 5 Uig - Applecross

After breakfast we drive a little further north of the island to drive towards Applecross via the east side, with its colossal rock formation on the coast and impressive scenery. Through an impressive road with breathtaking scenery, we finally arrive at our destination. We spend the night in the countryside, just outside the small town of Applecross. What a special atmosphere hangs here.....

Day 6 Applecross - Ullapool

Again, we drive around the island and take full advantage of the scenery. We drive past Loch Shieldaig, Torridon, Maree and Little Loch Broom and we just can't get enough of the Scottish scenery. Since the drive today is not long, we arrive early in Ullapool, a small friendly port town, where we spend the night.

Day 7 Ullapool - John O Groats

Today we ride part of the famous "Coast 500." A ride that starts with a trip to Achmelvich, a beautiful ride through overwhelming scenery. Then we drive the widely known, too narrow roads for 2 cars to pass each other. In short, we are in the Highlands of Scotland. The scenery continues to amaze us until we arrive in John o' Groats. This is the village in the far north of Scotland, where we will spend the night.

Day 8 John O Groats - Glen Shee

We leave windy John o'Groats and drive down the East Coast Highway 500 to Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands. Then we will pass through Cairngorms National Park with its impressive landscapes and arrive in Glen Shee, where we will stay like a king(s) in a castle.

Day 9 Glen Shee - Endinburgh

Today a short drive to Edinburgh, where of course we want to visit the city center. The city is rich in culture and architecture. Like Edinburgh Castle, the old buildings around it and the pleasant shopping streets with many whisky and beer pubs, among others.

Day 10 Edinburgh - Whitfield (England)

We drive further south, passing through Kielder Forest Park and North Pennines AONB, with its typical walled long rural roads, where we find ourselves back in England. We spend the night in the countryside in a beautiful nature park and, since we arrive early, we may be able to do a little sightseeing.

Day 11 Whitfield - Hull (ferry)

The last drive to the ferry. We'll take in another bit of Pennines National Park and then drive through North York Moors National Park and along the coast toward Hull, where we will again take the evening ferry that will sail us to Rotterdam.

Day 12 Hull (ferry) - Rotterdam (Netherlands)

Arrival in the morning in the port of Rotterdam, where we say goodbye and everyone goes home independently. Hopefully with great memories that will stay with us for a long time, because Scotland is special after all.....
