This trip is really for mile-eaters and curve freaks.

During this motorcycle trip we will go through the Ardennes, Eiffel, Bavarian Alps, Sylvenstein staumeer and the Dolomites

We will ride over the following mountain passes, among others: Grossglockner, The Marmolada (at 3,343 meters the highest mountain in the Dolomites), passo San Boldo, passo Pordoi, passo Stelvio and much more.......

The travel days are long but perfectly doable if driven nicely.

We will fully enjoy the many curves, mountains and natural beauty this week combined with good food and drink.

Good preparation

In addition to a major service beforehand, it is important to leave with -nearly- new tires. In some of these countries, motorcyclists are also required to bring a first-aid kit, spare lights and reflective safety jacket (including for passenger). We also recommend bringing a tire repair kit.

Group tour but still individual

For each riding day a route description is made. You can decide for each day whether you want to ride the route alone with your travel companions or with other group members together.

Luggage

During this short Europe trip, there will be no follow car. It is therefore important that you bring your luggage on the back of the motorcycle.

Heavy travel

This journey has many miles per day and may be considered tough for some.

Insurance

For this trip, you are required to have a travel insurance needed.

Flexibility

R2D tries everything, as best as possible, to keep the trip on track, however, there may be situations where flexibility is expected from participants. There may be engine trouble or the planned route is temporarily not possible due to works.

Day 1 Schimmert - Cochem ( Germany )

The GPS route starts in Schimmert, Limburg. From here we first drive nice little roads through South Limburg towards Vaals, Drielandenpunt. From here we will drive into Belgium and steer delightfully through the Ardennes towards Cochem, Germany, where we will have our first overnight stay on the Moselle.

Day 2 Cochem - Ettal

This area on the Mosel, with its many vines, will give you a nice view of this region where you will also see many windmills. Steering nicely on secondary roads, we will take the highway for 2 hours in the middle part of this day to get some mileage, so we can enjoy the last part to Ettal, southern Germany, again on the beautiful secondary roads.

Day 3 Ettal - Moena ( Italy )

Through first a beautiful wooded area and past the Sylvenstein Stausee, we ride to the top of the mighty Grossglockner of over 2,500 meters. Then we descend and ride into Italy. Via Cortina D´Ampezzo and Passo Sella Val Gardena we drive to Moena, a pleasant town with many restaurants where we will stay for 3 nights.

Day 4 Moena stay

Today we will take a southern tour and enjoy passo Croc D'Aune, passo Boldo with its hairpin turns in the tunnels and of course passo Giau and Pordoi, among others. After a wonderful day with lots of bends again, a real Italian pizza or pasta with a beer will taste even better.

Day 5 Moena stay

Our queen stage of this tour. We will climb the widely known Stelvio Pass, with an altitude of over 2700 meters. With its many curves and magnificent views, this is a start of a very beautiful day, because after that we will also climb passo Gavia and Del Tonale, among others. How the beer will taste after this ride!

Day 6 Moena - Furtwangen ( Germany )

We will leave the Dolomites via the Timmelsjoch mountain pass into Austria, then drive to the Black Forest in Germany via Hahntennjoch. The Black Forest has wonderful quiet secondary roads, leading us to Furtwangen where we will spend the night.

Day 7 Furtwangen - home

Unfortunately the last day towards home. The first part goes through the Black Forest, to then make a choice. We can either take a shortcut through the French Northern Vosges to Trier, Germany, and then back into the Netherlands through the Ardennes, or take Highway 5 to get home faster.

Points of improvement shorter rides , but understand that then the trip would be a few days longer. The tour guide Roland is fine, nothing to complain about, but I know Roland from previous trips. I was helped very well by Roland, since I had bad luck with the engine (electrical failure). Contact with the office was as always perfect!”
