In search of ancient remote tribes
Expedition Northeast India: In search of forgotten tribes and wild nature
This journey takes you to one of the last truly untouched areas of India: the mysterious and barely traveled northeast. Connected to the rest of the country by just a narrow 30-kilometer-wide corridor, it feels like entering a completely new world - one where time has stood still.
Once you leave the busy city of Guwahati behind, the roads turn into dusty, bumpy trails that wind through endless hills and jungle. This is where the adventure really begins. Remote villages, hidden temples and the rhythm of daily life barely affected by the outside world - this is the India that few travelers will ever experience.
We trek across the states of Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya. Each region has its own peoples, traditions and mysterious landscapes. In Nagaland, we visit traditional Naga villages where colorful tribes still live according to ancient rituals. We walk through hills bordering Myanmar and Bangladesh, where the smell of wood fires and incense is still in the air everywhere.
Along the way, we will stop at a spectacular game reserve, where we will search for rare rhinos and other wildlife by jeep - in the middle of a landscape where the jungle has the last word.
Accommodations range from cozy guesthouses to simple homestays deep in the mountains, where evenings are spent around the fire with stories from the locals.
This is not a standard trip. This is a rugged exploration for adventurers who crave the unknown, the traditional and the pure. Here, it's not the destination that counts, but the way there.
Do you dare?
